Q:	Does the time of day for violent crime with a firearm vary for adults and juveniles?
A:	The time patterns of violent crime involving the use of a firearm are similar for juvenile and adult offenders.

Note: Violent crimes include murder, violent sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault. Data are from law enforcement agencies in 21 states and the District of Columbia.

Juvenile and adult offenders are most likely to commit a violent crime with a firearm between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.—although there is also a minor peak in the afterschool hours for juveniles.
Over one-quarter (27%) of all violent crime committed by juvenile offenders involving the use of a firearm occurs between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. For adult offenders, 24% of violent crimes involving the use of a firearm occur between 9 p.m. and 12 p.m.
