- Between 1980 and 2006, the annual numbers of male and female homicide victims were very similar for victims at each age under 13. However, older victims were disproportionately male. For example, between 1980 and 2006, 84% of murdered 17-year-olds were male.
- Between 1980 and 2006, approximately 9,815 17-year-old males were homicide victims, compared to approximately 1,855 females of the same age.
