Q: Does the age profile of sexual assualt victims vary with offender age?
A: A greater proportion of juvenile offenders' sexual assault victims were under age 18 (95%) than were victims of adult offenders (64%).

Note: Sexual assault includes forcible rape, forcible sodomy, sexual assault with an object, and forcible fondling.

  • Compared to the victims of other non-fatal violent offenses committed by juvenile offenders, a disproportionate number of sexual assault victims were younger than age 10 (47%) and relatively large numbers were ages 3 to 5 (20%).
  • Among those victimized in violent crimes committed by juvenile offenders, approximately 9% were victims of sexual assault.
