2004 Tribal Youth Program Grantee

Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah & Ouray Reservation

Project Title: Ute Tribal Youth Program

Category: II, IV

The Ute Delinquency Prevention Program hopes to serve about 100 tribal youth, ages 8 to 17 through it's after-school activities and organized youth recreational activities. The Ute Delinquency Prevention Program will 1) provide interventions for court-involved tribal youth and 2) provide an alcohol and drug abuse prevention program for tribal youth. This program will provide cultural activities, family and substance abuse counseling, community service projects and assist in the organization of youth-led substance-free recreational activities. It is hoped that with more activities for youth to participate in, youth will be less likely to participate in dangerous delinquent behaviors such as substance use.
